The foundation of the "Zinc Metal Ingot Production Facility" to be established in Siirt as a Turkish-Qatari partnership will be laid today. According to the statement made by Lineer Metal AŞ, the facility, which will be built on a 145-acre area in the Siirt Organized Industrial Zone and cost 102 million dollars, will produce 30 thousand tons of zinc ingots annually in the first phase and 90 thousand tons annually when completed. Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez will also attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the facility. Advisor to the AK Party Chairman and Honorary President of the company Prof. Dr. Yasin Aktay stated that work is ongoing to implement important projects for the development of the city. Thousands of people will be employedAktay, who stated that the facility whose foundation will be laid will provide employment for 3 thousand people, said, "The project cost of the facility that we will establish with the partnership of Qatari investors is 102 million dollars. When the facility reaches full capacity, it will prevent an annual import of 216 million dollars. This figure corresponds to 38 percent of Turkey's annual zinc import." Noting that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, relevant ministers, Siirt Governor Ali Fuat Atik and other authorities supported the investment, Aktay wished the investment to be beneficial for the country.
